Legacy Statement

The legacy of The Whitney Foundation is to share what has been given to us, empowering individuals to make permanent change around issues that might otherwise fall through the cracks. Encouragement of collaborative relationships and investments beyond financial support lead to transformational change.

Legacy Message from Executive Director Ellen Bush

With gratitude for nineteen years of engaged philanthropy through grant making in Central CA, Salt Lake City, UT, and Boise, ID, The Whitney Foundation marks it sunset. The “purposeful spend-down process” followed a strategic plan over four years, a nd included larger grants, match grants and endowment grants. Going forward, this website tells a legacy story. On this page is posted the Legacy Statement of The Whitney Foundation, created by the Board of Directors with input from grantees. Below, you can find the Legacy Video prepared for viewing at Legacy Celebrations held in each geographic area in 2018. The Impact tab includes information about grantee organizations. Please note that The Whitney Foundation Archive can be found in the California State University-Fresno’s Henry Madden Library Special Collections after July 2020.
